Here is the family from the hills of Uttarakhand who live in a small village called “Chakrata”. The family lives in a wooden house on the top of the mountains, with their farmlands on the mountain steps and surrounded by greenery. Their livelihood depends on farming, where they also practice animal husbandry. They live in a joint family of seven members where everyone engages with the children in different ways!   Their house receives natural light from the small open block on the roof and through the windows. Surendra, the father of the children, can often be seen making wooden instruments & toys, while  Neetu, the mother, cooks on the hula (a gas stove made out of mud) with the vegetables grown in their backyard. Living in a village, the whole family participates in community rituals and traditions like attending mela (fair) during Baisakhi or new year and dancing with Mashal (torch) with others in the community on such special occasions.
